We are local to the area and spent a night at the hotel last week for a quick birthday celebration with friends . We were able to check in early giving us the day on the waterfront. The hotel was immaculate and the rooms comfortable. Staff at the front desk could not have been more helpful or professional. I mistakenly left a dress and they notified me immediately. We will return for another visit when the weather is warmer.
My husband and I stayed at the George in January. What a great stay we had! The hotel is lovely and so clean, easy parking on Front Street, great staff. We dined at the Independent, the restaurant at the George. Wonderful atmosphere and food. Our waiter, Sean, was personable and made good suggestions. Definitely put this hotel on your radar.
Our stay at The George was nothing short of exceptional and while this is my husband's and my go-to hotel when we are in the area, this trip was a stand out. The moment we stepped into the beautifully appointed lobby/lounge we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality by Bakari at the front desk. He surprised us with a room upgrade and a chilled bottle of Prosecco to celebrate a friend's birthday. His warm smile and gracious spirit truly set the tone for our stay. Cameron at the front desk was equally accommodating -- professional, personable, and always ready to assist with anything we needed. The service throughout was seamless and heartfelt, and we attribute a lot of that to Drue Ford, the General Manager, as he obviously leads his team with thoughtfulness and a true service-oriented mindset. The staff's attention to detail reflect exceptional leadership from the top down. Dinner at the Independent is always a highlight, and this visit was no exception. Hunter, our server, is incredible - so engaging and personable, attentive and skilled. Bax, the bartender, was equally amazing, and Jenna, the Manager, incredibly accommodating as well. The best birthday dinner we could have asked for, complete with another thoughtful gift! We can't wait to return to this elegant, yet cozy, low country gem.
Our second stay at The George, and the accommodations were excellent. Beautiful, comfortable, and spacious room with a lovely river view. Housekeeping was helpful and thorough. Front desk was courteous and efficient. Enjoyed one delicious dinner at The Independent. Highly recommend!
This was our third time staying at The George and it was just as wonderful as our first two visits. The whole hotel is stunning and our room matched! Everything was very clean and just gorgeous! Our server, Taylor, at The Independent went above and beyond with service and made the birthday we were celebrating extra special! We came by boat and were able to text with the front desk and Preston was kind enough to call ahead to the marina for us which was so so appreciated! Can’t wait for our next stay at The George!
My husband and I stayed Valentines weekend at The George (2-13-15, 2026). We have stayed here many times since their opening 2 years ago. The staff, service, quality of hotel is amazing. Easy to walk & shop and restaurants. We had dinner at The Independent and Samantha was a delightful server. The food was very delicious. Preston at front desk was quite a gentleman and helpful and very friendly. We also did The Independent Brunch before we left on Sunday and it was delicious and beautifully delivered. We will be back!
My husband surprised me with a stay at The George for my birthday weekend. Our room was lovely and had a gorgeous view of the water and boats with fog settling in the next morning. Bed was very comfortable! We had a delicious dinner at the Independent and brunch on Sunday before leaving.
Just an overall outstanding experience. We stayed two nights just to get away, and it was the best choice. We hung out in our gorgeous water facing room, and enjoyed the balcony and it's views. It was cozy and romantic, and creatively and tastefully decorated. The Independent restaurant on the ground floor is delicious and special as well. The service and concierge gentlemen were top tier and very welcoming. We will be back. We've found a new favorite quick getaway location, for sure!
